7 The sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it. The men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had done folly in Israel in lying with Jacob’s daughter, a thing that ought not to be done.

Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done!”


Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to talk with him.


Hamor talked with them, saying, “The soul of my son, Shechem, longs for y’all’s daughter. Please y’all, give her to him as a wife.


his sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and he brought all his offspring with him into Egypt.


But when King David heard of all these things, he was very angry.


Your statutes stand firm. Holiness adorns your house, YHWH, forever more.


I saw among the simple ones. I discerned among the youths a young man lacking sense,


For they have done foolish things in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I did not command them. I am ʜᴇ who knows. I am witness to it,” says YHWH.


“‘If the whole congregation of Israel sins, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done any of the things which YHWH has commanded not to be done, and are guilty;


“Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If anyone sins unintentionally, in any of the things which YHWH has commanded not to be done, and does any one of them,


“‘If anyone of the common people sins unwittingly, in doing any of the things which YHWH has commanded not to be done, and is guilty,


Let us not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.


Y’all must flee sexual immorality! Every other sin that a human commits is outside the body, but whoever commits sexual immorality sins against their own body.


But sexual immorality, and any impurity or greed, let it not even be mentioned among y’all, as is proper among saints;


But if this charge is true and that the evidence of the young woman’s virginity can be found,


then they must bring the young lady to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city are to stone her to death with stones, because she has done folly in Israel and played the prostitute in her father’s house. So you must purge the evil from among you.


None of the daughters of Israel must become a cult prostitute, and none the sons of Israel is to be a cult prostitute.


Therefore, y’all must put to death the elements of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, passions, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.


Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things that are not proper.


Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.


Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My siblings, things should not be this way.


The one who is caught with the devoted thing will be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of YHWH, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’”


But y’all are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy ethnic group, a people of God’s own possession, that y’all may proclaim the virtues of ʜɪᴍ who called y’all out of darkness into ʜɪꜱ marvelous light.


I took my concubine and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel; for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.
