Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother, Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”


Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, “You must come in to me; for I have surely hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” He lay with her that night.


He said, “Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for y’all to try the patience of men, that y’all will try the patience of my God also?


Yet you have not walked in their ways, nor done their abominations; but soon you were more corrupt than they in all your ways.


Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must also make yourself a ruler over us?


But to me it is a very small matter that I should be judged by y’all or by a human court. Indeed, I don’t even judge myself.
