YHWH saw that Leah was hated, and he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.


His brothers envied him, but his father kept this saying in mind.


But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree. Then he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough. Now, O YHWH, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”


Who is he who will contend with me? For then would I hold my peace and give up the spirit.


“Why didn’t I die from the womb? Why didn’t I give up the spirit when my mother bore me?


For resentment kills the foolish man, and jealousy kills the simple.


They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron, YHWH’s saint.


The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.


Sheol, the barren womb, the earth that is not satisfied with water, and the fire that doesn’t say, ‘Enough!’


Then I saw all the labor and achievement come from the envy of a one’s neighbor. This also is emptiness and a striving after wind.


If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”


Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all YHWH’s people were prophets, that YHWH would put his Spirit on them!”

because y’all are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy, infighting, and factions among y’all, aren’t y’all being fleshly? And aren’t y’all walking around like mere humans?


For godly sorrow produces repentance that leads to salvation, without regret. But worldly sorrow produces death.


envy, drunkenness, hard partying, and things like these. I am warning y’all as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Empire of God.


For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.


But if y’all have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your* heart, y’all must not boast or lie against the truth.


Or do y’all think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?


She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to YHWH, weeping bitterly.
