When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. Now terror and great darkness fell on him.


Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and made it into a pillar, and poured oil over the top.


He called the name of that place Bethel, though the name of the city had been Luz.


Jacob said to his relatives, “Y’all gather stones.” They took stones, and made a heap. They ate there by the heap.


Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Humanity has nowhere to lay his head.”


For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also our comfort overflows through Christ.
