He said, “Lord YHWH, how will I know that I will inherit it?”


See, I am standing by the spring of water. The daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.


Before he had finished speaking, there was Rebekah with her pitcher on her shoulder! She was the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother.


She said, “Drink, my lord.” She hurried, and let down her pitcher on her hand, and gave him a drink.


When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will also draw for your camels, until they have finished drinking.”


Here I am, standing by this spring of water. If a maiden who comes out to draw water, and I say to her, “Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink,”


then she tells me, “Drink, and I will also draw for your camels,”—let her be the woman whom YHWH has appointed for my master’s son.’


Joab said to Amasa, “Is it well with you, my brother?” Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.

He said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.


look, I will put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I’ll know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken.”


If he says, ‘It is well,’ your servant will be safe. But if he is angry-angry, then know that he has decided on evil.
