In the days of Amraphel, king of Shinar; Arioch, king of Ellasar; Chedorlaomer, king of Elam; and Tidal, king of Goiim,


Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and some fell there. Those who remained fled to the hills.


In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and struck the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,


Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself the pillar which is in the king’s valley, for he said, “I have no son to keep my name in memory.” He called the pillar after his own name. It is called Absalom’s monument, to this day.


The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many friends.


Wealth adds many friends, but the poor is separated from his friend.


For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him.


Jephthah came to Mizpah to his house, but just then his daughter came out to meet him with tambourines and with dances. She was his only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter.
