After these things, God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”


The Angel of YHWH called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”


Jacob awakened out of his sleep, and he said, “Surely YHWH is in this place, and I didn’t know it.”


God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” He said, “Here I am.”


God has spoken once; twice I have heard this, Power belongs to God.


Moses went up to God, and YHWH called to him out of the mountain, saying, “This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:


The Angel of YHWH appeared to him in a flame of fire from the middle of a bush. He looked and noticed that though the bush burned with fire, the bush was not consumed.


Moses said to YHWH, “Look, you have told me, ‘Bring up this people;’ and you haven’t let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’


“This is so that they may believe that YHWH, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”


YHWH called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting, saying,


A voice came to him, “Get up, Peter! Kill and eat!”


At about three in the afternoon, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”


He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”


for the precious things of the earth and its fullness, the good will of him who lived in the bush. Let this come on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who was separated from his brothers.


YHWH came, and stood, and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak; for your servant hears.”


YHWH called Samuel. He said, “Here I am.”


YHWH called yet again, “Samuel!” Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; for you called me.” He answered, “I didn’t call, my son. Lie down again.”


YHWH called Samuel again the third time. He arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; for you called me.” Eli perceived that YHWH had called the child.
