Mortals put an end to darkness, and search out, to the furthest bound, the stones of obscurity and of thick darkness.


YHWH’s works are great, pondered by all those who delight in them.


A person isolates themselves for selfish desires, and rejects all sound judgment.


The heart of the discerning gets knowledge. The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.


My son, give me your heart; and let your eyes keep in my ways.


It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.


Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.


I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also was a chasing after wind.


As you don’t know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child; even so you don’t know the work of God who does all.


Furthermore, my son, be warned: of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearying to the flesh.


For all his days are sorrows, and his travail is grief; yes, even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is emptiness.


For to the person who pleases ʜɪᴍ, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner ʜᴇ gives the task of gathering and accumulating, so that ʜᴇ may give to someone who pleases God. This also is emptiness and a chasing after wind.


I have seen the burden which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.


Hᴇ has made everything beautiful in its time. Hᴇ has set eternity in their hearts, but no one can find out the work that God has done from the beginning to end.


Then I saw all the labor and achievement come from the envy of a one’s neighbor. This also is emptiness and a striving after wind.


There is one who is alone, and he has neither son nor brother. There is no end to all of his labor, neither are his eyes satisfied with wealth. “For whom then do I labor and deprive my soul of enjoyment?” This also is emptiness. Yes, it is a miserable business.


I turned around, and my heart sought to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the scheme of things, and to know that wickedness is stupidity, and that foolishness is madness.


All this I have seen, and applied my mind to every work that is done under the sun. There is a time in which a person has power over another to their own hurt.


Be diligent in these things. Give yourself wholly to them, so that your progress may be revealed to all.
