Israel vowed a vow to YHWH, and said, “If you will deliver-deliver this people into my hand, then I will totally destroy their cities.”


after he had struck Sihon the king of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan who lived in Ashtaroth, at Edrei.


“Y’all are to get up, set out, and pass over the valley of the Arnon. Look, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. You are to take possession of it and contend with him in battle.


At that time, We took all his cities, and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones. We left no one remaining.


Y’all have not eaten bread, neither have y’all drunk wine or beer, so that y’all may know that I am YHWH y’all’s God.


YHWH said to me, “You are not to fear him, because I have delivered him, with all his people and his land, into your hand. You are to do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”


All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, in addition to a great many villages without walls.


The children of Israel took all the plunder of these cities, with the livestock, as plunder for themselves; but every man they struck with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them. They didn’t leave any who breathed.
