One thousand will flee at the threat of one. At the threat of five, y’all will flee until y’all are left like a beacon on the top of a mountain, and like a banner on a hill.


Though they raise their children, I will bereave them, until no one is left. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them!


I will set my face against y’all, and y’all will be struck down before y’all’s enemies. Those who hate y’all will rule over y’all, and y’all will flee when no one is pursuing y’all.


The Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. There was a very great slaughter; for thirty thousand footmen of Israel fell.


The Philistines put themselves in array against Israel. When they joined battle, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who killed about four thousand men of the army in the field.
