Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”


The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.


But at last, Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. I told the dream before him, saying,


because an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting of dreams, showing of dark sentences, and dissolving of doubts were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.”


But I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations and dissolve doubts. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you will be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold around your neck, and become the third ruler in the kingdom.”


In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions in his head while on his bed. Then he wrote the dream and told the sum of the matters.


Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him. You are just a boy, and he has been a man of war since his youth.”
