Now, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned away from them, and didn’t destroy them.


Look how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.


For again the Edomites had come and struck Judah, and carried away captives.


Remember, YHWH, what the children of Edom said in the day of Jerusalem, “Destroy it, y’all! Y’all destroy it down to its foundation!”


Will you be angry with us forever? Will you draw out your anger to all generations?


Don’t be hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.


For I will not contend forever, neither will I always be angry; for the spirit would faint before me, and the souls whom I have made.


Israel has cast off that which is good. The enemy will pursue him.


Egypt will be a desolation and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.


Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in lovingkindness.

Though Edom says, “We are beaten down, but we will return and rebuild the ruined places,” YHWH Almighty says, “They will build, but I will demolish. They will be called ‘The Wicked Land,’ a people with whom YHWH is indignant forever.”


Therefore, y’all must become imitators of God, as beloved children.


You must not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You must not abhor an Egyptian, because you lived as a foreigner in his land.
