“Y’all assemble and come. Y’all draw near together, those who have escaped from the nations. Those have no knowledge who carry the wood of their engraved image, and pray to a god that can’t save.


Then the men were overcome with a massive fear of YHWH, and they offered a sacrifice to YHWH and made vows.


The sailors were afraid, and every man cried out to his god. They threw the ship’s cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, and he was lying down in a deep sleep.


When they had traversed the entire island and come to Paphos, they found a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus,


There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing for Italy, and he transferred us to it.


They also bestowed many honors on us, and when we were setting sail, they gave us the supplies we needed.


We put in at Syracuse and stayed there three days.


However, some members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), including both Cyrenians and Alexandrians, and some from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and began to argue with Stephen.


So then, about eating things sacrificed to idols: we know that, “An idol is nothing in the world,” and that, “There is no God but one.”
