But it wasn’t long before a violent wind, called the northeaster, rushed down from the island.


As we passed the shelter of a small island called Clauda, we barely managed to secure the lifeboat.


On the fourteenth night while we were being driven across the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors suspected that they were approaching land.


Look at the ships too. Though they are large and driven by fierce winds, they are directed by a tiny rudder, wherever the pilot desires.
