They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but don’t do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain.


And y’all will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the ethnic groups.


because Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he was perplexed, yet he enjoyed listening to him.


and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year, they met together with the church and taught a considerable number of people. The disciples were first called ‘Christians’ in Antioch.


As he discussed righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid and said, “Go away for now! When I have an open time, I’ll send for you.”


King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe.”


Paul replied, “I pray to God that whether in a short or long time, not only you but everyone who is listening to me today might become such as I am, except for these chains.”


But we have renounced the secret and shameful things, not walking in deceitfulness nor distorting the word of God, but by the clear declaration of truth we commend ourselves to every human’s conscience in the sight of God.


But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, do not be ashamed, but rather praise God that you bear such a name.
