Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom, and their laws are different from other people’s. They don’t keep the king’s laws. Therefore it is not for the king’s profit to allow them to remain.


When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”


Then the princes said to the king, “Please let this man be put to death, because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them; for this man doesn’t seek the welfare of this people, but harm.”


Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the middle of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.


It is enough for a disciple to be like their teacher, and the servant like their master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!


and came and lived in a city called Nazareth. This fulfilled what was spoken through the prophets that he will be called a Nazarene.

They began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man subverting our ethnic group, forbidding us to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.”


He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they begged for, and handed over Jesus to their will.


But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, starting in Galilee all the way here.”


But some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”


shouting, “Men of Israel, y’all need to help! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people, our law, and this place. Not only that, he even brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this holy place!”


The crowd listened to him until he said that. Then they raised their voices and said, “Rid the earth of this guy! He isn’t fit to live!”


But this I admit to you that, according to the Way which they call a sect, I serve the God of our ancestors, believing everything in accordance with the Law and what is written in the prophets.


But so that I don’t delay you further, I request your kindness to hear a few words from us.


Once Paul arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many serious charges against him which they were not able to prove.


They have known me for a long time and can testify, if they are willing, that I lived as a Pharisee, the strictest sect of our religion.


But we would like to hear about your views from you, for we know that people everywhere are speaking against this sect.”


Then the high priest rose up, along with those who were with him from sect of the Sadducees, and they were filled with jealousy.


They also put forward false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking against this holy place and the Law.


Indeed, it is necessary that there be factions among y’all, so that those who are approved may be evident among y’all.


When we are defamed, we console. Now we have become the scum of the world, the crud everyone wipes off, even until now.


For it is commendable if, because of a consciousness of God, someone endures hardships and unjust suffering.
