Once when we were going to the place of prayer, a slave girl who had a future-telling spirit met us. She brought her owners a large profit through fortune telling.


When her owners realized that their expected profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the authorities.


He assembled them together with the workers of similar trades, and said, “Men, y’all know that our wealth comes from this business.


So then, if Demetrius and his fellow artisans have a complaint against someone, the courts are open and proconsuls are there. Let them press charges against one another.
