I look at the faithless with loathing, because they don’t observe your word.


For the zeal of your house consumes me. The reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.


If I say that I will not make mention of him, or speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones. I am weary with holding it in. I can’t.


But as for me, I am full of power by the Spirit of YHWH, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his disobedience, and to Israel his sin.

Those who escorted Paul brought him as far as Athens, and then they left after receiving instructions for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible.


(All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there spent their time doing nothing but talking and listening to something new.)


For while I walked around and observed y’all’s objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: ‘to an unknown god.’ Therefore, what y’all worship in ignorance, this I am proclaim to y’all.


After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth,


And now, bound by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,


So when we couldn’t stand it any longer, we thought it best to stay in Athens alone.
