Then Elijah said to the people, “I, even I only, am left as a prophet of YHWH; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred fifty men.


The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”


The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of YHWH, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”


YHWH said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me, I will blot him out of my book.


to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Y’all give rest to the weary,” and “This is a place of repose.” But they were not willing to listen.


They tell the seers, “Y’all stop seeing visions!” and the prophets, “Y’all stop prophesying what is right to us. Tell us pleasant things. Prophesy delusions.


Then they said, “Come, y’all! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah, for the law won’t be lost from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, y’all, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”


But y’all, shouldn’t listen to your* prophets, your* diviners, your* dreamers, your* soothsayers, or your* sorcerers, who tell y’all, “Y’all do not need to serve the king of Babylon.”


For YHWH Almighty, the God of Israel says: “Y’all must not let your* prophets and diviners deceive y’all. And Y’all must not listen to the dreams which y’all encourage them to dream.


The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will y’all do at the end of it?


If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies, saying, “I will prophesy to you of wine and beer,” he would be the prophet of this people.


The scribes and chief priests wanted to arrest him that very hour, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they feared the people.


Woe to y’all when humans speak well of y’all, for their ancestors treated the false prophets the same way.


But because I tell the truth, y’all don’t believe me.


(All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there spent their time doing nothing but talking and listening to something new.)


When I came to y’all, siblings, I didn’t come with eloquent speech or wisdom, as I proclaimed to y’all the testimony of God.


My words and my preaching were not persuasive words of human wisdom, but a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,


Have I now become y’all’s enemy by telling y’all the truth?


for the sexually immoral, for practicing homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,


You are to hold to the pattern of sound words that you heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus,


They said to y’all, “In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly desires.”
