The Lord said, “Because this people draws near with their mouth and honors me with their lips, but they have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which has been taught;


“Y’all beware of false prophets, who come to y’all in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.


that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of humans, in craftiness in deceitful scheming.


If anyone doesn’t obey our instruction in this letter, y’all take note of that person and don’t associate closely with them, so that they feel ashamed.


Now we command y’all, siblings, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that y’all keep yourselves* away from any sibling who lives a disordered life not according to the tradition they received from us.


But refuse profane myths and old wives’ tales. Rather discipline yourself toward godliness.


For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, holding promise for the present life and the life to come.


But anyone who doesn’t provide for their own, especially their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.


and constant friction between humans with corrupt minds who are destitute of the truth and suppose that godliness is a means of gain.


But avoid profane chitchat, because it drives people toward further ungodliness,


But reject foolish and uninformed speculations, knowing that they generate quarrels.


They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny ʜɪᴍ. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.


Reject a divisive human after a first and second warning,
