He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,


Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.


The Spirit of YHWH will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of YHWH.


But as for me, I am full of power by the Spirit of YHWH, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his disobedience, and to Israel his sin.


Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, “This is the word of YHWH to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says YHWH Almighty.


Look, I have given y’all authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the enemy’s power. Nothing will hurt y’all.


But when he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough to spare, and I’m here lost with hunger!


And look! I am sending the promise of my Father upon y’all. But y’all are to wait in the city of Jerusalem until y’all are clothed with power from on high.”


So the people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’s feet, dressed and in his right mind—and they were afraid.


Peace I leave with y’all. My peace I give to y’all. I don’t give to y’all as the world gives. Don’t let y’all’s heart be troubled or fearful.


But y’all will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you*. Y’all will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”


how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who under the power of the devil, because God was with him.


But I don’t consider my life worth even a single mention. Instead I aim to finish my race and the deacon-work which I received from the Lord Jesus—to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.


Then Paul replied, “What are y’all doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”


In all the synagogues, I regularly punished them and tried to make them blaspheme. I was so enraged against them that I went to persecute them in foreign cities.


“I am not out of my mind, most excellent Festus,” Paul replied. “Actually, I am speaking words of truth and reason.


Now Stephen, full of grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people.


But Saul grew more and more powerful, and he confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ.


And hope does not shame us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.


Y’all didn’t receive a spirit of slavery leading to fear again. Instead y’all received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father!”


My words and my preaching were not persuasive words of human wisdom, but a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,


But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,


who also told us about y’all’s love in the Spirit.


and might set free those who were held in slavery through fear of death all their lives.


Since y’all have purified your* souls in obedience to the truth in sincere mutual affection, y’all should love one another fervently, from the heart,


There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
