Zadok was there too, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up until all the people finished passing out of the city.


Then Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, “Ahithophel counseled Absalom and the elders of Israel that way; and I have counseled this way.


Y’all are my brothers. Y’all are my bone and my flesh. Why then are y’all the last to bring back the king?’


But he hasn’t called me, even me your servant, Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon.


When they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put it in bags and counted the money that was found in the house of YHWH.

Then Baruch read the words of Jeremiah from the scroll in the house of YHWH, in the room of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of the house of YHWH, in the ears of all the people.


“‘“But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who performed the duty of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, are to come near to me to minister before me. They are to stand before me to offer me the fat and the blood,” says Lord YHWH.


When Abiathar was the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests. And he also gave some to those who were with him.”
