The rich man had very many flocks and herds,


David perceived that YHWH had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.


He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines. His wives turned his heart away.


Now these were the sons of David, who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn, Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second, Daniel, by Abigail of Carmel;


All these were the sons of David, in addition to the sons of the concubines; and Tamar was their sister.


But Abijah grew mighty and took for himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.


He must not accumulate wives for himself, so that his heart won’t turn away. He must accumulate excessive silver and gold for himself.


David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they both became his wives.
