Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what YHWH, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.


who brings me away from my enemies. Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me. You deliver me from the violent man.


Then on that day David first ordained giving of thanks to YHWH by the hand of Asaph and his brothers.


Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but YHWH delivers him out of them all.


Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Pay your vows to the Most High.


Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to YHWH, and said, “I will sing to YHWH, for ʜᴇ is exalted-exalted. Hᴇ has thrown the horse and ʜɪꜱ rider into the sea.


Hᴇ delivered us from that terrible risk of death, and ʜᴇ will deliver us again. We have set our hope that ʜᴇ will continue to deliver us,


Moses spoke in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were finished.


The Lord will deliver me from every evil act and will save me to ʜɪꜱ heavenly empire. To ʜɪᴍ be the glory forever and ever. Amen.


Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying,


David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God didn’t deliver him into his hand.


May YHWH therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and you, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand.”


Though men may rise up to pursue you and to seek your soul, yet the soul of my lord will be bound in the bundle of life with YHWH your God. He will sling out the souls of your enemies as from a sling’s pocket.


Just as your life was respected today in my eyes, so let my life be respected in YHWH’s eyes, and let ʜɪᴍ deliver me out of all oppression.”


David said in his heart, “I will now perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape-escape into the land of the Philistines. Saul will give up seeking me any more in all the borders of Israel. So I will escape out of his hand.”
