Then your servant said, ‘Please let the word of my lord the king bring rest; for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad. May YHWH, your God, be with you.’”


Your servant Joab has done this thing to change the face of the matter. My lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.”


The king said, “Where is your master’s son?” Ziba said to the king, “He is staying in Jerusalem; for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will restore me the kingdom of my father.’”


Then the king said to Ziba, “All that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.” Ziba said, “I bow down. Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, O king.”


There were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of Saul’s house, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went through the Jordan in the presence of the king.


So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king’s table. He was lame in both his feet.


The king said, “Is there not yet any of Saul’s house, that I may show the kindness of God to him?” Ziba said to the king, “Jonathan still has a son, who is lame in his feet.”


I will silence whoever secretly slanders his neighbor. I won’t tolerate one who is arrogant and conceited.
