After many days, Shua’s daughter, the wife of Judah, died. When Judah had finished mourning, he went up to his sheep shearers to Timnah, he and his friend Hirah, the Adullamite.


After two full years, Absalom had sheep shearers in Baal Hazor, which is beside Ephraim; and Absalom invited all the king’s sons.


The king said to Absalom, “No, my son, let’s not all go, lest we be burdensome to you.” He pressed him; however he would not go, but blessed him.


Everyone lies to their neighbor. They speak with flattering lips and with a duplicitous heart-heart.


His talk was smooth as butter, but war was in his heart. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.


Now I have heard that you have shearers. Your shepherds have now been with us, and we didn’t harm them. Nothing was missing from them all the time they were in Carmel.
