When Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he took her, lay with her by force.


“This is what YHWH says: ‘I am going to raise up evil against you out of your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he will lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.


Then Amnon hated her with intense hatred. He hated her more he had loved her. Amnon said to her, “Get up and get out!”


Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman had fallen on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even assault the queen in front of me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.


“‘You must not uncover the nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father, or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or born abroad.


‘Cursed is anyone who lies with his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter.’ All the people will say, ‘Amen.’
