The woman said, “Why then have you devised such a thing against the people of God? For in speaking this word the king is as one who is guilty, in that the king does not bring home again his banished one.


David spoke to YHWH the words of this song in the day that YHWH delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul,


who brings me away from my enemies. Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me. You deliver me from the violent man.


Now therefore tell my servant David this: ‘YHWH Almighty says, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel.


Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘YHWH, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,


He answered, “I have not troubled Israel. But you and your father’s house have, because y’all have forsaken YHWH’s commandments, and you have followed the Baals.


As your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” The king of Israel said to him, “So will your judgment be. You yourself have decided it.”


He said to him, “YHWH says, ‘Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will take the place of his life, and your people take the place of his people.’”


I love you, YHWH, my strength.


Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem,


it is you, O king, that have grown and become strong; for your greatness has grown, and reaches to the sky, and your dominion to the end of the earth.


As he got out, he saw a large crowd, and he felt gut-wrenching sympathy for them and healed their sick.


Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of YHWH your God, which he commanded you; for now YHWH would have established your kingdom on Israel forever.


Samuel said, “Though you were little in your own sight, weren’t you made the head of the tribes of Israel? YHWH anointed you king over Israel;


Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the middle of his brothers. Then the Spirit of YHWH came mightily on David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.


and Saul threw the spear, for he said, “I will pin David to the wall!” David escaped from his presence twice.


Saul said, I will give her to him, so that she may be a snare to him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore Saul said to David a second time, “You may be my son-in-law today.”


David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God didn’t deliver him into his hand.


Saul was told that David had come to Keilah. Saul said, “God has delivered him into my hand, for he is shut in by entering into a town that has gates and bars.”
