David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her, and lay with her. She bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. YHWH loved him;


Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.


That same night, the word of YHWH came to Nathan, saying,


Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Haven’t you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn’t know it?


They told the king, saying, “Look, Nathan the prophet!” When he came in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.


But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.


Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers; Zabud the son of Nathan was chief minister, the king’s friend;


Look! A son will be born to you, who will be a man of peace. I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. For his name will be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.


and these were born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, four, by Bathshua the daughter of Ammiel;


Didn’t Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless foreign women caused even him to sin.


While he was still speaking, a bright cloud suddenly overshadowed them. A voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”


And a voice from the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”


About Benjamin he said, “The beloved of YHWH will dwell in safety by him. He covers him all day long. He dwells between his shoulders.”
