But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David perceived that the child was dead; and David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” They said, “He is dead.”


Then his servants said to him, “What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child was dead, you rose up and ate bread.”


Joab sent to Tekoa and brought a wise woman from there, and said to her, “Please act like a mourner, and put on mourning clothing, please, and don’t anoint yourself with oil; but be as a woman who has mourned a long time for the dead.


Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither groomed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.


They brought in the ark of YHWH, and set it in its place in the middle of the tent that David had pitched for it. David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before YHWH.


Then David the king went in and sat before YHWH. He said, “Who am I, Lord YHWH, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?


Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped.


But he said to her, “You speak like one of the foolish women speak. Should we receive good at the hand of God, and not also receive evil?” In all this Job didn’t sin with his lips.


Praise YHWH, my soul! All that is within me, praise ʜɪꜱ holy name!


YHWH is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness.


I was mute. I didn’t open my mouth, because you did it.


Come y’all, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel before YHWH, our Maker,


Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear YHWH, and depart from evil.


Let your garments be always white, and don’t let your head lack oil.


But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,


You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with perfume.


So bathe, anoint yourself with perfume, and put on your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don’t make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.


Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship YHWH.”


So Samuel went back with Saul; and Saul worshiped YHWH.
