They took Absalom and cast him into a great pit in the forest, and raised over him a very great heap of stones. Then all Israel fled, each to his own tent.


Then the king arose and sat in the gate. The people were all told, “Look, the king is sitting in the gate.” All the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.


He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel, to this day.


“But when y’all see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, y’all must recognize that its desolation is near.
