Cain said to YHWH, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.


But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there a prophet of YHWH here, that we may inquire of YHWH by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.”


So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched for seven days along a circuitous route. There was no water for the army or for the animals that followed them.


He was still talking with them, when the messenger came down to him and he said, “Look, this evil is from YHWH. Why should I wait for YHWH any longer?”


A person’s foolishness perverts their way; yet their heart rages against YHWH.


Your sons have fainted. They lie at the head of all the streets, like an antelope in a net. They are full of YHWH’s wrath, the rebuke of your God.


They will pass through it, very distressed and hungry. When they are hungry, they will worry, and curse their king and their God. They will turn their faces upward,
