He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”


But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom YHWH cast out from before the children of Israel.


YHWH spoke by his servants the prophets, saying,


Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that they did more evil than did the nations whom YHWH destroyed before the children of Israel.


but they mocked the messengers of God, despised ʜɪꜱ words, and scoffed at ʜɪꜱ prophets, until YHWH’s wrath arose against ʜɪꜱ people, until there was no remedy.


“Nevertheless they were disobedient and rebelled against you, cast your law behind their back, killed your prophets that testified against them to turn them again to you, and they committed awful blasphemies.


The wicked walk on every side, when what is vile is exalted among the children of humanity.


I am YHWH, your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.


If a ruler listens to lies, all of his officials are wicked.


Y’all will know that I am YHWH, for y’all have not walked according to my statutes. Y’all have not kept my laws, but have acted according to the laws of the nations around y’all.”’”


Yet you have not walked in their ways, nor done their abominations; but soon you were more corrupt than they in all your ways.


You are to say, ‘Lord YHWH says: “A city that sheds blood within herself, bringing her time, and that makes idols that defile her!


She has rebelled against my ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are around her; for they have rejected my ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them.’


“Therefore Lord YHWH says: ‘Because y’all are more insubordinate than the nations around y’all, and have not walked in my statutes, or kept my ordinances, or even followed the ordinances of the nations around y’all,


We haven’t listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.


Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment, because he is intent in his pursuit of idols.


“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I longed to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own chicks under her wings, but y’all refused!


If I had not come and spoken to them, they wouldn’t have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.


Therefore, whoever knows what is excellent to do but doesn’t do it, that is sin for them.


But I have this against you: that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and leads my slaves astray to commit sexual immorality and eat food sacrificed to idols.


But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel, and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us,
