because they have forsaken me, and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon. They have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did.


Elijah the Tishbite, who was one of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As YHWH, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there will not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”


After many days, the word of YHWH came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain on the earth.”


At the time of the evening offering, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “YHWH, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.


He lay down and slept under a juniper tree. Suddenly, an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat!”


The Angel of YHWH came again the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.”


The word of YHWH came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,


Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper room that was in Samaria, and was injured. So he sent messengers and said to them, “Y’all must go and inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover of this sickness.”


They said to him, “A man came up to meet us, and said to us, ‘Y’all go return to the king who sent y’all and tell him, “YHWH says, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending men to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will die-die.’”’”


They answered him, “He was a hairy man, and wearing a leather belt around his waist.” He said, “It’s Elijah the Tishbite.”


He returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him; and he said, “See now, I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel. Now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.”


It was so, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come now to me, and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.”


In Judah, God is known. His name is great in Israel.


When they say to y’all, “Y’all should consult with mediums and spiritists who chirp and mutter,” shouldn’t a people consult their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?


Those who pay attention to worthless idols forfeit the divine love that could be theirs.


The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and, “By the prince of the demons he casts out the demons.”


An angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go south on the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza” (This is a desert road).


Today, YHWH will deliver you into my hand. I will strike you down and remove your head. Today, I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines to the birds of the sky and to the wild animals of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
