So what do y’all want? Should I come to y’all with a rod or in love and a spirit of gentleness?


In this confidence, I had planned to come to y’all first so that y’all would receive a second benefit,


I invoke God as a witness to my soul, that it was to spare y’all that I didn’t come to Corinth.


I have become a fool—y’all forced me! For I should have been commended by y’all, since I am the least inferior to the “super-apostles,” even though I am nothing.


such that when I come again my God will humble me before y’all, and I will be grieved for many who previously sinned and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality and sensuality which they practiced.


This is the reason I am writing these things while absent: so that I won’t have to be severe when present, according to the authority the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.


I also wrote for this reason: to test y’all to see if y’all are obedient in everything.


So although I wrote to y’all, it was not for the one who did wrong or the one who was wronged, but that y’all’s earnest care for us might be made known to y’all in the sight of God.


I rejoice that I have total confidence in y’all.


But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the arrival of Titus,


For even if I grieved y’all with my letter, I don’t regret it. And if I did regret it, because I saw that my letter grieved y’all for a little while


We are also sending our sibling whom we have tested many times in many things and found diligent, but now even more diligent because of the great his confidence in y’all.


I have confidence in the Lord that y’all will have no other mindset. But the one who troubles y’all, whoever he is, will bear his judgment.


We have confidence in the Lord concerning y’all, that y’all are doing and will continue to do the things we command.


Since I am confident in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.
