Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”


Moses and Aaron were among ʜɪꜱ priests, Samuel was among those who call on ʜɪꜱ name. They called on YHWH, and ʜᴇ answered them.


Then YHWH said to me, “Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not turn toward this people. Cast them out of my sight, and let them go out!


“When a bull, a sheep, or a goat is born, it will remain seven days with its mother. From the eighth day on it will be accepted for the offering of a burnt offering made to YHWH.


I prayed to YHWH, and said, “Lord YHWH, don’t destroy your people and your inheritance that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.


Therefore, y’all acknowledge your sins to one another and y’all pray for one another, so that y’all may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much.


Then build an altar to YHWH your God on the top of this stronghold, in an orderly way. Take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah that you cut down.”


When the men of the city arose early in the morning, he saw that the altar of Baal had been demolished, and the Asherah beside it was cut down, and the second bull was offered on the altar that was built.


“Go down ahead of me to Gilgal. I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings. Wait seven days, until I come to you and show you what you are to do.”


Isn’t it wheat harvest today? I will call on YHWH to send thunder and rain. Then y’all will know and see that y’all’s wickedness is great which y’all have done in YHWH’s sight by asking for a king.”


Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me.” YHWH said, “Take a heifer with you, and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to YHWH.’


I will raise up a faithful priest for myself who will do according to that which is in my heart and in my mind. I will build him a sure house. He will walk before my anointed forever.


His return was to Ramah, for his house was there, and he judged Israel there; and he built an altar to YHWH there.


They answered them and said, “He is. Look, he is ahead of you. Hurry now, he has come today into the city, because the people have a sacrifice today in the high place.
