David inquired of YHWH, saying, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” YHWH said to David, “Go up, and I will deliver-deliver the Philistines into your hand.”


When David inquired of YHWH, he said, “You must not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them in front of the mulberry trees.


Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”


He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.


The enemy said, ‘I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the plunder. My desire will be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword. My hand will destroy them.’


He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before YHWH. At his command they and all the children of Israel, the entire community, will go out and come in.”


The children of Israel arose, went up to Bethel, and asked counsel of God. They asked, “Who will go up for us first to battle against the children of Benjamin?” YHWH said, “Judah first.”


The children of Israel went up and wept before YHWH until evening, and they asked of YHWH, saying, “Should we go up again in battle against the sons of Benjamin our brothers?” YHWH said, “Y’all must go up against them.”


and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days), saying, “Should we yet again go out to battle against the sons of Benjamin our brothers, or should we stop?” YHWH said, “Y’all must go up, for tomorrow I will deliver him into your hand.”

Therefore they asked of YHWH further, “Has the man come here yet?” YHWH answered, “There he is, he has hidden himself among the supplies.”


Saul asked counsel of God: “Should I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But ʜᴇ didn’t answer him that day.


Therefore David inquired of YHWH, saying, “Should I go and attack these Philistines?” YHWH said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines, and save Keilah.”


Then David inquired of YHWH yet again. YHWH answered him, and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.”


When Saul inquired of YHWH, YHWH didn’t answer him by dreams, by Urim, or by prophets.


David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken, and David rescued his two wives.


There was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither plunder, nor anything that they had taken. David brought them all back.
