The time came near that Israel must die, and he called his son Joseph, and said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please don’t bury me in Egypt,


If a man dies, will he live again? I would wait all the days of my warfare, until my release should come.


Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with you, and you have appointed his bounds that he can’t pass.


“Isn’t a person forced to labor on earth? Aren’t their days like the days of a hired hand?


For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn’t there.


The Lord will laugh at ʜɪᴍ, for ʜᴇ sees that ʜɪꜱ day is coming.


Hᴇ has brought on them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. YHWH, our God, will cut them off.


a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;


Won’t God bring justice to ʜɪꜱ chosen ones who are crying out to ʜɪᴍ day and night? Will ʜᴇ delay helping them?


Don’t seek revenge, beloved, but y’all must leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay,” says the Lord.


YHWH said to Moses, “Look, the day of your death is approaching. Call Joshua and y’all present yourselves* in the Tent of Meeting, so that I may commission him.” Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the Tent of Meeting.


Vengeance is mine, and recompense, at the time when their foot slides, for the day of their calamity is at hand. Their doom rushes at them.”


For we know ʜɪᴍ who said, “Vengeance belongs to me. I will repay.” And again, “The Lord [YHWH] will judge his people.”


Just as humans are appointed to die once and after this comes judgment,


For this reason her plagues will come in a single day: death, grief, and famine. She will be burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who has judged her.


May YHWH judge between me and you, and may YHWH avenge me of you; but my hand will not be on you.


May YHWH therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and you, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand.”


Now therefore, my lord, as YHWH lives and as your soul lives, since YHWH has withheld you from blood guiltiness and from avenging yourself with your own hand, now therefore let your enemies and those who seek evil to my lord be as Nabal.


About ten days later, YHWH struck Nabal, so that he died.


When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed is YHWH, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from evil. YHWH has returned the evildoing of Nabal on his own head.” David sent and spoke concerning Abigail, to take her to himself as wife.


Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through and abuse me!” But his armor bearer would not, for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword and fell on it.


So Saul died with his three sons, his armor bearer, and all his men that same day together.
