David said to him, “Why were you not afraid to reach out your hand to destroy YHWH’s anointed?”


David’s heart struck him after he had counted the people. David said to YHWH, “I have sinned greatly in that which I have done. But now, YHWH, put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.”


Naboth said to Ahab, “May YHWH forbid me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”


But I tell y’all, love your* enemies, bless those who curse y’all, do good to those who hate y’all, and pray for those who persecute y’all,


Y’all are to bless those who persecute you*; bless and do not curse.


Y’all see to it that no one pays back evil with evil. Instead, y’all should always pursue what is good for one another and for all.


Here I am. Y’all testify against me before YHWH and before ʜɪꜱ anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Of whose hand have I taken a bribe to make me blind my eyes? I will restore it to y’all.”


So David checked his men with these words, and didn’t allow them to rise against Saul. Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
