Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.


He defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.


“Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the ground which YHWH your God gives you.


But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety toward their own family and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.


Then the Spirit of YHWH came on Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.


I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite, the widow of Mahlon, to be my wife in order to raise up the name of the dead on his property, so that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his relatives and from the gate of his hometown. Y’all are witnesses today.”


The neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “A son is born to Naomi”. So they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.


Now when Saul had taken the kingdom over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side: against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines. Wherever he turned himself, he defeated them.


Everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them. There were with him about four hundred men.


He brought them before the king of Moab, and they lived with him the whole time that David was in the stronghold.


Samuel told him every bit, and hid nothing from him. He said, “It is YHWH. Let him do what seems good to him.”
