1 Samuel 13:5 - Y'all Version Bible

But I counsel that all Israel be gathered-gathered to you, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude, and you personally lead them in battle.


The children of Israel were mustered and given provisions, and went against them. The children of Israel encamped before them like two little flocks of young goats, but the Syrians filled the country.


Now, YHWH God, let your promise to David my father be established. For you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

Your offspring also would have been as the sand and the descendants of your body like its grains. His name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me.”


Their widows are increased more than the sand of the seas. I have brought on them against the mother of the young men a destroyer at noonday. I have caused anguish and terrors to fall on her suddenly.


The inhabitants of Samaria will be in terror for the calves of Beth Aven, for its people will mourn over it, along with its priests who rejoiced over it, for its glory, because it has departed from it.


“Although you, Israel, play the prostitute, do not let Judah become guilty. And both of y’all must not go to Gilgal, nor up to Beth Aven, And y’all must not swear, ‘As YHWH lives.’


“Y’all must blow the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah! Y’all must sound a battle cry at Beth Aven: Behind you, Benjamin!


Isaiah cries concerning Israel, “Though the number of the children of Israel are like the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved,


They went out, they and all their armies with them, many people, even as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots.


Their border on the north quarter was from the Jordan. The border went up to the side of Jericho on the north, and went up through the hill country westward. It ended at the wilderness of Beth Aven.


Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Y’all go up and spy out the land.” The men went up and spied out Ai.


The Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand which is on the seashore for multitude.


Samuel said, “What have you done?” Saul said, “Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you didn’t come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines assembled themselves together at Michmash,


Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel, of which two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in the Mount of Bethel, and one thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. He sent the rest of the people to their own tents.


So YHWH saved Israel that day; and the battle passed over by Beth Aven.


There was severe war against the Philistines all the days of Saul; and when Saul saw any mighty man or any valiant man, he took him into his service.


Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle; and they were gathered together at Socoh, which belongs to Judah, and encamped between Socoh and Azekah in Ephesdammim.


So the Philistines were subdued, and they stopped coming within the border of Israel. YHWH’s hand was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
