He went and found his body thrown on the path, and the donkey and the lion standing by the body. The lion had not eaten the body nor mauled the donkey.


“Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.


So he went and did according to the word of YHWH, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith that is before the Jordan.


“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.”


When ʜᴇ remains quiet, who then can condemn? When he hides his face, who then can see him? Hᴇ is over a nation or a man alike,


Who provides for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food?


Hᴇ provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.


Then Jonah prayed to YHWH, his God, from the belly of the fish.


“You must take the staff and assemble the congregation. You and your brother, y’all are to speak to the rock before their eyes, and it pour out its water. You will bring water to them from the rock and give the congregation and their livestock drink.”


Then the devil left him, and angels came and served him.


But he answered, “It is written, ‘A human must not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”
