they gave him vinegar to drink mixt with gall. And when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.


Some of them that stood there, when they heard that said: This man calleth for Helias.


Other said let be, let us see whether Helias will come and deliver him.


And one ran, and filled a sponge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave it him to drink, saying: let him alone, let us see whether Helias will come and take him down.


The soldiers also mocked him, and came and gave him vinegar
