¶ That same time rejoiced Iesus in the spirit, and said: I confess thee father Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast opened them to the foolish. Even so father, for so pleased it thee.


For he saith to Moses: I will shew mercy to whom I shew mercy: And will have compassion on whom I have compassion.


But o man what art thou, which disputest with God? shall the work say to the workman: why hast thou made me on this fashion?


in whom we are made heirs, and were thereto predestinate according to the purpose of him which worketh all things after the purpose of his own will:


And hath opened unto us the mystery of his will according to his pleasure, and purposed


Helias was a man in danger to tribulation as we are, and he prayed in his prayer, that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.


These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophesying: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all manner plagues, as often as they will.
