and considereth it not, the wicked one cometh, and catcheth away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the way-side.


The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom, but the darnel are the children of the wicked one.


For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings.


Neither shalt thou swear by thy head; for thou canst not make one hair white or black.


And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.


I do not pray, that thou wouldest take them out of the world, but that thou wouldest keep them from the evil one.


Ye are of your father the devil, and your will is, to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth; for there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.


Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour; for we are members one of another.


Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.


Lie not one to another, seeing ye have put off the old man with his deeds,


Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every one.


But the Lord is faithful, who will stablish and guard you from the evil one.


But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your yea be yea, and your nay nay, lest ye fall into condemnation.


I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
