A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh a sign; but there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.


At last came two false witnesses, And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.


In like manner the chief priests also with the scribes and elders mocking him said, He saved others; Cannot he save himself?


And the centurion and they that were with him, guarding Jesus, seeing the earthquake and the things that were done, feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.


And the tempter coming to him said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.


And saith to him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down; for it is written, He shall charge his angels concerning thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.


And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded tho' one rose from the dead.


And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and shall make merry, and send gifts to one another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt upon the earth.
