And he being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment, of spikenard, very costly; and shaking the box, she poured it on his head.


She hath done what she could: she hath before-hand embalmed my body for the burial.


There were also women, beholding from afar, among whom was Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James the less, and of Joses, and Salome:


And the evening being now come, (because it was the preparation, that is,


And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses, beheld where he was laid.


And very early in the morning, the first day of the week, they come to the sepulchre, at the rising of the sun.


And going out, they fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: and they said nothing to any; for they were afraid.


And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.


And returning they prepared spices and ointments, and rested the sabbath, according to the commandment.


And on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulchre, bringing the spices, which they had prepared and certain others with them.


Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene.


Now because it was the preparation, lest the bodies should remain upon the cross on the sabbath (for that sabbath was a great day) the Jews besought Pilate, that their legs might be broken, and they might be taken away.
