But wo to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: ye go not in, neither suffer ye them that are entring to go in.

And as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.


I fast twice in the week: I give tythes of all that I possess.


And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, who departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers, night and day.


Who devour widows houses, and for a pretence make long prayers; these shall receive greater damnation.


I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.


And he said to them, Can ye make the children of the bride-chamber fast, while the bride-groom is with them?


Again, the next day, John was standing, and two of his disciples.


Then there arose a dispute between some of John's disciples and the Jews, about purifying.


And he said, Behold I am here, Lord. And the Lord said to him, Arise, go into the street called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas, for one named Saul of Tarsus; for behold, he is praying.
