But what went ye out to see? A prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet.


And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they accounted him a prophet.


But if we say, Of men: we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.


But when they sought to apprehend him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.


But they said, Not at the feast, lest there be a tumult among the people.


And they sought to seize him, but feared the multitude; for they knew he had spoken the parable against them; and leaving him, they went away.


And thou, child, shalt be a prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, to prepare his ways,


saying, If we say from heaven, he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?


for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.


But the Pharisees and scribes made void the counsel of God, toward themselves, being not baptized of him.


And many came to him and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.


Then the captain going with the officers brought them, not with violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.
