¹ NOW THERE was a certain man among the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler (a leader, an authority) among the Jews,

And Pilate having called together the chief priests, and the rulers,

And Nicodemus also came (who at first had come to Jesus by night) bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pounds.

Jesus answered and said to him, Art thou a teacher of Israel, and knowest not these things?

And lo he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing to him. Do the rulers know indeed, that this is the Christ?
